How to Homeschool through the Middle School and High School Years…
Hello, this newsletter will focus on middle school and high school students. It will focus on state education requirements, helpful resources events and groups for teens.
State Education Requirements
Step one: is always picking an Accountability Association.
(That’s covered under Option 2 and Option 3 outlined in SC Code
of Laws 59-65-45 and 59-65-47)
Step two: Curriculum includes, but is not limited to, the basic
instructional areas of reading, writing, mathematics, science, and
social studies, and in grades seven through twelve, composition and
literature Step three: Record-Keeping Let’s talk about homeschool record-keeping for high schoolers in South
Carolina. We’ve talked before about the basics of South Carolina’s Homeschool Record-Keeping 101. But, now that you’ve got a high schooler working toward credits and transcripts–there’s a little bit more you’ll want to do so the doors of opportunity will open for your student. -Kim (Meet Kim @ The South Carolina Homeschooling) Homeschool Record-Keeping For High Schoolers in South Carolina (homeschoolingsc.org)
Helpful Things to Note:
- Option 3 homeschoolers do not have to legally follow the same
classes or grading as public school however there are some
associations that if you want a diploma from them, they may
require it. Also, it is very important to check with the goal college
if your student is college bound to see what they specifically
require for admissions. I have a blog about
this: High School Homeschooling – Hometown Homeschool Association of South Carolina (hometownhasc.com) – Michelle Palczewski - Also, homeschoolers do not get a diploma from the South
Carolina Department of Education like public school students do
which is where some misinformation or misconception lies.
(Private school students also do not receive a state issued diploma either) - Think what does the student want to do after high school?
Every child is unique therefore their education should be also -Jeannie Fulbright

enrollment. If you are awarded a HOPE Scholarship, your award will be included in your award
notification after your final high school transcript has been received by the Office of Undergraduate
Admissions.
LIFE Scholarship
If you are awarded a LIFE Scholarship, it will be included in your award notification. In addition to
general eligibility requirements, students have the opportunity to earn an additional $2,500 through the
LIFE Scholarship Enhancement award.

Initial eligibility for the prestigious Palmetto Fellows Scholarship is determined by the South Carolina
Commission on Higher Education. In addition, STEM-related fields of study may qualify you for a
